ASGC has moved from a broad smart-grid knowledge-sharing platform into a more implementation-oriented regional congress. The repeated emphasis is now on microgrids, renewable-energy integration, battery/energy management, AI/IoT, EVs, policy frameworks, and energy resilience. This matches ASEAN's wider smart-grid agenda: ACE notes that smart grids can support higher solar and wind integration, but the region still faces barriers such as high investment cost, weak business/financial mechanisms, and cybersecurity risks.

  • Organized by UiTM Solar Research Institute with adiCET/CMRU involvement; brought together academia, industry, government and energy experts from Asia-Pacific.

The ASEAN Smart Grid Congress has become a credible regional platform for connecting academia, government, utilities, industry, and international partners around ASEAN’s energy transition.

The strongest conclusion from the last five years is that ASGC should continue shifting from “discussion and research exchange” toward deployment, financing, standards, cybersecurity, and cross-border collaboration. Future congresses can be positioned as the place where ASEAN smart-grid ideas turn into bankable pilots, policy alignment, and regional implementation partnerships.
